Ok so I was seriously hesitant to do this, but I figured it could give some hope. So I was skimming facebook and I found some old pictures of me from new years of this year. I remembered I took a picture of myself at that time. At this time, it was before surgery, on 6-MP, Methotrexate and MANY steroids. I was so helpless, so depressed, so sick. I wanted to post these pictures for you all and hopefully if you’re in that spot, you can see it gets better. Honestly, physically, mentally, emotionally…I am so much better.

HI! I stumbled on your blog and just wanted to say hello. I, too, hate my guts (literally)- or lack thereof. I have a j-pouch, minus a few feet of small intestines. Here is a link to the “rainbows and flowers” version of my basic story:

With the risk of sounding like a total asshole…I think its totally rad that you’re deaf. I have had a mild obsession with ASL for sometime now, and if I had more money I would be taking a boatload of classes. Michigan doesn’t have much of a deaf community, or I would be far more involved. I give you HUGE props for doing all of this with a language barrier as well. For the few times I’ve verbally assaulted my surgeon, I’ve been glad that i could do so…even if i regretted it later. I don’t know your hearing level, (though i’ll probably read your whole blog right now) but with the risk of sounding trite, you are far more brave/courageous than all of us.

You look awesome!!! It will only get better once all the surgeries are over, so keep the faith. Right before my first surgery (Dec 19, 2009) I was almost 220. I am now at 172 and I go down in weight almost everyday. I hope to get back to the 145-150 I was at before quitting smoking & getting married 6 years ago – back then I pooped once a day like clock work and it was normal people poop!!
Keep the kicking and fighting and posting your blog. I love it!
